SOUNDPROOFING WALLS WITH POLYURETHANE FOAM

When the swearing or joy behind the wall becomes unbearable, when you want to cover your ears and run away from your own apartment, a person usually realizes it's time to consider soundproofing. The main reasons for high sound transmission in walls are their thinness, cracks, cavities, and other defects, as well as large gaps between the walls, floor, and ceiling. The simplest way to get rid of annoying sounds is to increase the thickness of the walls. However, modern apartments are already small enough to deliberately reduce their space even further.
You can use traditional soundproofing materials. However, this is quite expensive and labor-intensive, as it often requires the installation of a metal frame and finishing, and the thickness of the walls will still increase significantly, reducing the already limited free space. You can avoid all these complexities and additional costs by using polyurethane foam, or PUF, to block out extraneous noise.

Why PUF is the best soundproofing material

• Polyurethane foam is applied to the surface using a spraying method, under pressure in a liquid state. It thoroughly fills seams of any width, joints between slabs, deep cracks, and cavities. This significantly reduces wall preparation time.
• PUF has an excellent sound absorption coefficient, so the result is noticeable even with a relatively thin layer of material.
• Polyurethane foam is, among other things, the best thermal insulator available today. Therefore, it is ideal for soundproofing exterior walls.
• Its high adhesive strength allows it to be used on walls made of any building material. Simply thoroughly clean the wall of any dirt and dry it.
• PUF is non-hygroscopic and virtually inert when exposed to aggressive environments. Using this material, you can be sure of a damp-free environment and a soundproofing layer that remains intact.
• Polyurethane foam is not attractive to living creatures. Forget about mice and insects—they won't be there.
• Thanks to the spray application method, soundproofing work won't take long. Just two people can cover up to 200 square meters of surface in a day.
• Polyurethane foam is very lightweight and doesn't create additional stress on lightweight structures. On the contrary, its rigidity gives such weak structures additional strength.
• PUF is extremely durable and can last up to 30 years without repair. Of course, this information does not apply to cases where the polyurethane foam layer is deliberately damaged.

The only drawback of polyurethane foam is its instability to ultraviolet radiation. If the insulation is to be installed in a room with direct sunlight, it is best to paint the PUF layer. This will prevent the thermal insulation from slowly deteriorating.
