Metal containers are used for more than just shipping. They can also be used for retail outlets, small warehouses, garages, and water storage tanks—and this is just a small list of possible applications. This wide range of applications is due to their low cost, ease of installation, and the ability to be moved to the desired location. The only drawback of containers is their virtually zero thermal insulation, and the use of most traditional insulation materials significantly reduces their internal volume. This problem can be solved by spraying polyurethane foam, a new-generation two-component material that provides thermal insulation with minimal insulation thickness.

Insulating Containers with Polyurethane Foam

Insulating containers with polyurethane foam is a technically simple process, but it requires specialized, expensive equipment. Therefore, the cost of spraying is slightly higher than the cost of installing slab insulation; the cost-effectiveness of this technology is based on the improved performance properties of the material.

• Insulation does not require additional fasteners. Polyurethane foam insulation is applied directly to the metal surface of the container, eliminating the need for a traditional frame.
• The polyurethane foam insulation system eliminates the need for waterproofing or vapor barriers, significantly simplifying installation, speeding up installation, and reducing material costs.
• Polyurethane foam protects the metal container from moisture, reducing the risk of corrosion and extending the lifespan of the structure.
• We recommend installing polyurethane foam insulation from the inside. The minimal layer thickness will not reduce the useful volume of the structure, and simple painting will provide protection from sunlight.
• Polyurethane foam insulation is distinguished by its environmental safety, which is why it is recommended for food outlets (unlike fiberglass and mineral wool-based materials).

Before installing the insulation, the container surface must be cleaned of any existing corrosion, and it is also advisable to prime it. Cleaned areas with special compounds. No other preliminary surface preparation is required.
The polyurethane foam mixture, applied under pressure, penetrates all existing cracks and crevices, creating a continuous coating on the interior surface of the container with minimal heat loss. The application rate is quite high; our specialists can process a medium-sized object in just one day, and the work can be performed at any time of year. In just a few hours, the polyurethane foam reaches its designed hardness and strength, and the container can be used for its intended purpose on the same day as the insulation installation.

Insulation installation on tanks is complicated by their cylindrical shape. Attaching traditional sheet or roll materials requires the construction of complex frame structures. Therefore, the use of polyurethane foam is considered the most efficient method for such work. It's also worth noting that tanks insulated with polyurethane foam can be buried in the ground without additional waterproofing treatment. The material has a low water absorption rate, so polyurethane foam provides reliable protection against groundwater and other aggressive liquids.
Treating tanks with polyurethane foam allows for the storage of various liquids prone to freezing, even in harsh climates. This class of insulation is also used in the installation of fire reservoirs to ensure adequate water reserves for firefighting.
