EXTERIOR WALL INSULATION
In practice, two main technologies are used for external wall insulation:- A ventilated façade system using polyurethane foam eliminates the need for additional waterproofing and vapor barriers on the building's load-bearing structures. Insulation is applied after the façade's load-bearing frame is installed, followed by the façade section. The resulting monolithic insulation layer has high thermal insulation properties.
- Insulating the walls of a house followed by plastering the surface is considered a simpler method of façade insulation. After cleaning the wall, a layer of insulation of the required thickness is sprayed onto it. It hardens quickly, creating a textured surface. To provide additional strength, the insulation is reinforced with fiberglass and a standard adhesive mixture; the process is similar to installing expanded polystyrene (foam) insulation. Once the reinforcing layer has reached the required strength, plaster is applied to the wall surface. The cost of this method of finishing facades with polyurethane foam is quite affordable, and the work is completed quickly; a medium-sized house or apartment can be insulated in just 1-2 days (with proper work management).
Insulating the interior walls of a house is best accomplished by pouring polyurethane foam behind the finishing (plasterboard covering). This technology significantly reduces the scope and, consequently, the cost of the work.
